There’s also a new wellness app that collates all your vital fitness stats into one place and, Fossil claims, further optimises battery life by taking power consumption away from the main processor.

With the VO2 max tracking to monitor cardio health, long term fitness, and resting heart rate, this sounds like a decent free software update to what is already one of the best smartwatches you can buy.

The companion phone app has also received a visual update.

It’s notable that these updates have been introduced by Fossil on the one-year anniversary of the watch’s release – the company has clearly worked to bring these features to the watch itself, rather than rely on Google to update the WearOS platform.
