Processor aside, there are a few key differences between the two handsets. Most noticeably, the Legend 7 features red and blue rally stripes along a white back, thanks to Vivo's partnership with BMW M Motorsport. By contrast, the standard iQOO 7 will be available in 'Storm Black' or 'Solid Ice Blue'.
The 7 Legend also has a smaller 4000mAh battery, compared to the iQOO 7's 4400mAh, though both handsets support 66W fast charging.
Finally, the iQOO 7 Legend is markedly geared towards gaming. Dedicated features such as an under-the-screen virtual joystick, control pads with pressure-sensitive digital buttons, and 4D dynamic vibrations that respond to steering or shooting recoil all aim to draw gameplay on the iQOO 7 closer to a console experience.
As for commonalities, both handsets share a 'Liquid Cooling System' that combats overheating and battery consumption, along with a 300Hz touch sampling rate which can be boosted to a 1000Hz 'Instant Touch Sampling Rate' via a Super Touch Acceleration feature.
The rest of the display also remains identical between the two, with the same 6.62in FHD+ (2400x1080) AMOLED display with HDR 10+ support and 120Hz refresh rate.
Cameras are similar too - both use the same 48Mp IMX598 main camera and a 13Mp ultrawide. The regular 7 back these up with a 2Mp monochrome camera, but the 7 Legend includes a more useful 13Mp 50mm portrait lens.
Storage on either comes in 128GB or 256GB, with the UFS 3.1 memory standard for faster read and write speeds. RAM is either 8GB or 12GB, and Vivo's 'Extended RAM' feature adds another 3GB of virtual RAM (re-allocated from the ROM).
Despite the international launch announcement, it's unclear whether the iQOO 7 handsets will make it to Europe or the UK. Vivo told Tech Advisor only this January that it was “too early to say” when it would launch the iQOO brand in Europe.
“We’re gonna cover entry, mid, and flagship model under Vivo, but when it comes to iQOO and Nex our strategy is to wait and see, because first we build our brand awareness and product awareness and then we make some customers fans of Vivo. Then we’re gonna bring iQOO and Nex for more niche customers.”
Ahead of the launch Vivo wouldn't tell us the iQOO 7 and 7 Legend's prices in India, but Chinese pricing on the iQOO 7 starts at CNY 3,798 (around £433/$586).
