Sony has already confirmed the PS5 will drop come holidays 2020  but a new leak has shown an alleged PlayStation 5 developer kit in the wild, complete with DualShock 5 controllers.

The tweet, embedded below, shows two console units identical to the previous design leaks. Units are seeded to developers early so they can test the new hardware for upcoming games releases.

The units are pretty big compared to the svelte PS4 design, so it could be that this current design is a prototype for developing the hardware and software – the official PS5 release might well be completely different.

But it is a bold look and one that has clearly had some thought put into it, especially when it comes to thermals with the V shape based around ventilation and, we presume, fans. If the PS5 is anywhere near as powerful as we are expecting, it’ll certainly need the cooling.

If the controllers are the new DualShock 5, then they look a lot like the previous version, complete with touchpad.
