When will Brooklyn Nine-Nine season eight be released?

There's a bit of a wait for season eight of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, as the next season is due to kick off in Autumn 2021 in the US according to TV Line.

E4 have not yet confirmed when they will be syndicating the show in the UK, but looking back at previous seasons, we'll probably see this arrive a few weeks after it airs in the US, most likely in late 2021 or early 2022. Netflix UK should also eventually have the series as well.

How many episodes will season eight feature?

Season eight will be coming back for a shortened season, with just ten episodes in total.

Is season eight the last?

Sadly, Brooklyn Nine-Nine is now coming to an end. Executive producer Dan Goor confirmed the news in a statement which you can read below:

The show was cancelled in 2018 and then revived, but this time it seems it will be going for good.

Is there a trailer yet?

As we're so far away from season eight airing, there is no trailer. However you can enjoy 99 seconds (Nine-Nine!) of season 7 below:

Who is returning to Brooklyn Nine-Nine?

The good news is that the entire squad should be back for season eight. That includes Andy Samberg (Jake Peralta), Stephanie Beatriz (Rosa Diaz), Terry Crews (Terry Jeffords), Melissa Fumero (Amy Santiago), Joe Lo Truglio (Charles Boyle), Andre Braugher (Raymond Holt), Dirk Blocker (Micheal Hitchcock) and Joel McKinnon Miller (Norm Scully).

If you missed Chelsea Peretti, aka Gina Linetti, in season seven then you're in luck. Dan Goor confirmed to TV Line that he's working on a way to bring her back in season eight.

What do we know about the season eight plot so far?

Spoilers for season seven ahead - proceed at your own risk.

It should come as no surprise that the events of season eight are being kept under wraps until the series airs later on in the year, but we have had some snippets of information.

Season seven finished with the arrival or Jake and Amy’s son Mac during a blackout. The baby is naturally named after John McClane from Die Hard - one of Jake's heroes.

No doubt the next season will involve Jake and Amy dealing with the woes of parenthood whilst balancing their careers - and perhaps get the whole gang involved with baby antics.

Andre Braugher - the actor for Captain Raymold Holt - confirmed to EW that the show will also be tackling the Black Lives Matter movement, reflecting on the police force and trying to strike a balance between comedy and commentary.

The protests are not the only real-life event that the show will tackle. Goor confirmed that the show will touch on the pandemic (via The Hollywood Reporter) and how the NY police department dealt with a pandemic in one of the hardest hit cities in the world.
