The madness of CES (consumer electronics show) is nearly here, albeit virtually of course, but Samsung is getting in early with an additional press conference. It’s called The First Look 2021 and here’s how you can watch it.
Although Samsung’s main CES event takes place on 11 Jan like many other brands, this one kicks off on 6 Jan at 4pm GMT. You can watch the live stream right here because the video is embedded below.
The Korean tech giant hasn’t given much away about this event and it wasn’t even rumoured ahead of time. It says, “Samsung Electronics is bringing its innovative technologies to screen experiences in a way you’ve never seen before. At The First Look 2021 on January 6th, Samsung will introduce its latest products, technologies and visions for the future of the display.”
While that’s a little bit cryptic, it seems likely that Sammy will announce its 2021 line-up of TVs to follow the likes of the Samsung Q80T and TU8500. New 4K and 8K televisions using QLED are likely but the firm could also unveil TVs using MicroLED and Mini-LED like rivals such as LG will do as well.
Looking at the silhouettes - apart from the main one in the middle at the back which is a traditional TV – they look like Samsung’s specialist models.
From left to right it looks like The Frame, The Sero (in both portrait and landscape modes) and The Serif. So new models of all of these are on the cards.
This does beg the question as to what Samsung is saving for its main event on 11 Jan and it won’t be mobile as there’s an Unpacked on 14 Jan for the Galaxy S21 range and other devices like the Galaxy Buds Pro.
While TVs are often part of the main show, it looks like Samsung will save that for appliances and smart home.
