When is the iMac Pro release date?

Although it was first announced way back in June at WWDC, the iMac Pro did not go on sale until 14 December.

How much will the iMac Pro cost? 

While iMacs tend to cost around £1,000-£2,000 depending on the model, the iMac Pro costs a lot more.

It's available from £4,899 with a 3.2GHz Intel Xeon W processor, 32GB of RAM, 1TB of storage, Radeon Pro Vega 56 and a 27in Retina 5K screen.

But by customising its spec to include an 18-core processor, 128GB of RAM and 4TB storage the new iMac Pro will cost you as much as £12,279. Factor in mouse and software upgrades and top whack is £13,006.98.

What are the iMac Pro specifications?

The iMac Pro has been dubbed 'the most powerful Mac ever made' by Apple which makes a lot of sense when you look at the specs. The device comes in Space Grey and has a 5K display as standard - that's a 27in screen with a 5120x2880 resolution and 500nits of brightness.

Apple has fitted the iMac Pro with an 8-core Xeon processor but will also be available in 10- and 18-core options. We know that the middle option will be a 3GHz Intel Xeon W.

The iMac Pro will have up to 128GB of ECC memory and up to 4TB 3Gbps SSD. Other options for memory will be 32- and 64GB while storage will 1- or 2TB.

It will come with four Thunderbolt ports and 10Gb Ethernet. Other specs include a 1080p FaceTime camera, Bluetooth 4.2, 11ac Wi-Fi, four beamforming mics, louder audio and an SDXC card slot.

Furthermore is Radeon Vega graphics with up to 22 Teraflops of power and the ability to drive up to 44 million pixels. Apple promises things like real-time 3D rendering, high framerate VR, faster code compiling, real-time 4K video, machine learning development and more.

The base-model is a Radeon Pro Vega 56 graphics processor with 8GB of HBM2 memory but it's configurable to a Radeon Pro Vega 64 with 16GB of HBM2 memory.
