Paris Games Week 2017, or PGW 2017 as it’s better known, is around the corner. The Paris-based games show attracts gaming companies from around the world, and is where Sony likes to make big PlayStation-related announcements. PGW 2017 is no different, as Sony has confirmed that a Media Showcase will take place during the show.

What will Sony announce? When will the announcement take place? And most importantly, is there a livestream? We answer all those questions below.

When is the PlayStation PGW 2017 announcement taking place?

The news of the Paris Games Week live stream came from Sony itself via Twitter, promising “big game announcements & updates” with a link to a PlayStation Blog post. The blog post reveals more information about the livestream, including a date and time: 30 October 2017 at 3pm GMT.

It’s nice to have a Sony livestream take place during the day for a change, right?

What is Sony planning to announce at PGW 2017?

The biggest question is: what will Sony announce? Microsoft’s Xbox One X launches in under two weeks and Sony will need to showcase something pretty impressive to beat that! But since Sony’s PS4 Pro is already available, we assume that Sony will concentrate on its best asset: PS4 exclusives.

PS4 exclusive games like The Last of Us and the Uncharted series play a huge part in the decision-making process when it comes to deciding between PS4 and Xbox One. Microsoft does have a slew of console exclusives, but it’s arguably Sony’s exclusives that provide more immersive single-player storylines and epic gameplay.

This is essentially confirmed in the PlayStation Blog post, with promises of seeing “some spectacular new games coming to PS4 and PS VR”. The post also mentions a post-show debrief after the main media showcase, where you’ll get more details about the announcement.

Another blog post said: "We’ll begin with an introductory livestream featuring 21 game updates, including seven all-new game announcements for PS4 and PS VR. You won’t want to miss it."
