Whilst there’s been a lot of excitement surrounding the new Marvel Disney Plus shows, it’s been well over a year since we last saw an MCU film released. Now after numerous delays, Black Widow is finally here.

Following the Avenger and agent Natasha Romanoff, the film Black Widow takes place between Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War, exploring how Natasha survived on the run and what she had to encounter before she joined the team to defeat Thanos.

When does Black Widow release?

If you'd like to watch it cinemas, then Black Widow is out now in cinemas and on Disney+.

Where to watch Black Widow in cinemas 

Marvel has pushed forward with a theatrical release, and cinemas in the UK have now reopened in most areas. You can purchase tickets from Cineworld, Vue, Odeon, Showcase, Empire and The Everyman

Many people will still be hesitant to go the cinemas. However, there is another way to watch Black Widow - at home. 

Is Black Widow on Disney Plus?

Yes - Marvel has confirmed that Black Widow will get get a dual cinema and home release through Disney+ Premier Access.

Disney+ Premier Access is a one-off payment on top of an existing Disney+ subscription to give viewers a way to watch films that under normal circumstances would only be available in theatres. Black Widow costs an extra £19.99.

If you're not already subscribed to Disney+, you can do so on the website. An account costs £7.99 per month, or £79.90 per year at the time of writing. 

Here's what you'll need to do to watch Black Widow at home:

  • Sign into your Disney+ account and head to the homepage
  • Click on Black Widow
  • Click 'Get Premier Access'
  • Confirm it is an additional purchase, and that you're happy to billed extra

Will Black Widow be available on VOD and DVD?

Black Widow will be coming to DVD and VOD services, and it'll be a little sooner than expected. You'll be able to digitally download it from 10 August 2021, and buy physical copies of the 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD editions on 14 September 2021. The latter will include including nine deleted scenes and a blooper reel. 

In addition, Disney+ subscribers will get Black Widow at no extra charge on 6 October 2021 – so if you’re happy to wait and are already an account holder on this streaming platform, this is the best option.
