UK Facebook users are drunk in more than three quarters (76 percent) of pictures they're tagged in on the social networking site, says

Research of more than 1,700 Brits that use the social network revealed just 12 percent have changed their default privacy settings so only they themselves can see the pictures they are tagged in. However, 26 percent admitted that anyone can see photos of them on the site, while more than half (58 percent) said their privacy settings restricted it just to those they are friends with on the site.

More than half (56 percent) said they have intoxicated photos on their profile they wish their colleagues could not see and eight percent said there were some images that could result in serious trouble for them at work.

Furthermore, 65 percent said they had deliberately tagged their friends in 'embarrassing' photos and 93 percent admitted they have untagged themselves from pictures in the past because they saw them as shameful.

"We're all guilty of going out and having a good time, but nowadays the photos inevitably catch up with us online, so we wanted to look at how much these photos dominate our presence on social media sites," said Rebecca Huggler, co-founder of

"The thing to remember is that most photos are taken on special occasions or get-togethers with friends and family. As the Christmas party season is upon us, there's sure to be thousands more festive pictures uploaded on to social networking sites everyday; many of which I'm sure will also be fuelled by alcohol!"
