AMD revealed the latest graphics card in its collection, the budget-focused Radeon RX 6500 XT, at CES 2022 in early January. It’s focused on entry-level 1080p gamers and framed as the perfect upgrade for ageing gaming setups, offering 4GB of GDDR6 RAM with 2.6GHz clock speeds, 16 ray accelerators, 16 compute units and a 16MB Infinity Cache.
It won’t quite provide the high-end 4K gaming experience that dedicated gamers are after, but if you’re more of a casual gamer, that should be more than enough.
If you’re on the hunt for the graphics card, we’ve got you covered; we cover everywhere you can buy the AMD Radeon RX 6500 XT in the UK and US right here.
To find out more about the GPU, take a look at all you need to know about the AMD Radeon RX 6500 XT.
When was the AMD Radeon RX 6500 XT be released?
The entry-level AMD Radeon RX 6500 XT was released on 19 January 2022 at 10am ET, or 2pm GMT for those that live in the UK.
How much does the AMD Radeon RX 6500 XT cost?
The Radeon RX 6500 XT is the entry-level graphics card in AMD’s current 6000 series, and the price will reflect that. Aimed at 1080p gamers, the graphics card comes with an impressive £179/$199 RRP
It’s a tempting price, and unlike previous launches, it has the potential to stick to – or at least near – the RRP. It’s mainly down to the 4GB of VRAM on offer; it’s not very efficient for mining cryptocurrency, which should put most miners off buying the GPU. That should, in theory, mean it’s only gamers that’ll be picking one up at launch.
Coupled with other entry-level specs, it’s likely easier and cheaper to manufacture at scale, and that should translate to more stock and (hopefully) regular pricing.
With that said, it is just an RRP and OEMs like Asus and MSI that produce third-party graphics cards can increase the price depending on the configuration, so some variants could cost more. It’s also possible that, even with plentiful stock, retailers take advantage of the high demand by bumping the price up. Let’s just hope that’s not the case!
Where can I buy the AMD Radeon RX 6500 XT?
