Other newcomers to the cast include Calam Lynch as the rebellious printer’s assistant, Theo Sharpe, whilst Rupert Young will be playing the role of Jack.
Bridgerton has added four actors to Season 2:
Charithra Chandran will play Edwina Sharma, Kate’s younger sister and Shelley Conn will play Mary Sharma, Kate’s mother.
Also say hello to Calam Lynch who will play Theo Sharpe and Rupert Young who will play Jack.
As for returning performers, we expect to see Julie Andrews as the voice of Lady Whistledown, Golda Rosheuvel as Queen Charlotte, Nicola Coughlan as Penelope Featherington, Claudia Jessie as Eloise Bridgerton, Adjoa Andoh as Lady Danbury, Ruth Gemmell as Lady Violet and Polly Walker as Portia Featherington.
Though Phoebe Dynevor will return as Daphne Bridgerton in a supporting role, sadly Regé-Jean Page will not be returning as Simon Bassett, the Duke of Hastings. The pair’s romance is now a happy ever after and won’t be the main focus of the show anymore. If they do appear, it will just be as a guest spot.
Bridgerton season 2 plot
Bridgerton season 2 will be based around the second book in Julia Quinn’s series, The Viscount Who Loved Me. In this story, Anthony Bridgerton is on the quest for a new bride. He sets his eyes on Edwina Sharma, but her older sister, Kate, is proving to be quite meddlesome and overprotective – and is slowly becoming Anthony’s new obsession.
Actress Phoebe Dynevor stated in an interview to
Harpers Bazaar that she’d love to see Daphne play an active role in Anthony’s love life, just as he did in hers.
Bees will also play a part in Anthony’s character development, considering that his father Edmund Bridgerton died of a bee sting aged 38. In the books, Anthony is terrified of the insects, and this is a plot point that continues to resurface.
In addition, Penelope Featherington, aka Lady Whistledown, is up to her usual gossip writing. However,
actress Nicola Coughlan revealed that there will be repercussions for her behaviour in season two.
Will there be more seasons of Bridgerton?
After season two there’s plenty more Bridgerton to look forward to.
The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that the show has been renewed for both a third and fourth season – most likely in response to the explosion in popularity.
