The Animal Extra is optimised for homes with pets, and it’s brilliant for picking up hair and fluff. It also comes with an armful of add-ons.
In the box, you’ll get eight different tools and accessories, including the direct drive head and a mini motorised tool.
Among the new accessories is the up-top adaptor (which costs £25 to buy separately) and which allows you to create a fixed angle between the wand and head so you can vacuum the tops of shelves overhead and other awkward spots. We’ve tested it and it makes a real difference to handheld cleaning.
You’ll also get four more cleaning tools, a spare filter and a docking station you can mount to the wall, and which doubles as the V10’s charging unit.
The Cyclone V10 has a battery life of up to one hour (as with all vacuum cleaner battery stats, this is on the lowest setting, without a motorised tool attached) and it charges in 3.5 hours. At 0.76 litres, it has a small bin but on the plus side, it’s easy to open and discharge straight into the rubbish.
The V10 is a modular vacuum, so you can pop out the wand and opt to use it as a handheld cleaner. The quick release joints make it easy to change the accessories and cleaning heads.
We rated the V10 4.5 stars out of 5. When we reviewed it, we called it “phenomenal” and were particularly impressed with its power. It’s not flawless: it’s not the lightest vacuum cleaner in the world and the trigger you have to hold down during use makes it slightly harder work to clean.
On the whole, however, if you want to buy a Dyson, getting a good deal on a V10 is the way to get most bang for your buck right now.
