After launching in China in December, and Europe last month, Xiaomi has finally brought the Mi 11 to the UK, starting from just £749, with pre-orders launching today ahead of wider availability next week.
The first phone in the world to be powered by the Snapdragon 888 chipset, the Mi 11 also packs a 2K, 120Hz AMOLED display, along with a 108Mp main camera. Despite the impressive spec sheet, the phone costs £749 with 128GB storage, jumping to £799 for double the capacity – undercutting the Galaxy S21 and other flagship phones.
That’s not all though. Where most phone brands bundle earphones or cases in their early bird pre-order deals, Xiaomi’s making an offer that’s hard to refuse: the Mi 11 includes a free Mi Essential electric scooter when ordered from Vodafone until 31 March.
The Mi Essential costs £399 at Halfords while Currys PC World is selling it for £349. Amazon‘s asking price is £329.99, while Pure Electric has the cheapest price of the lot at £319 – which is still a pretty penny. But if you choose to pre-order the Mi 11 via Vodafone, you pay nothing.
It’s worth noting that electric scooters still aren’t legal to use on the roads in the UK – here’s what you need to know.
The scooter offer is exclusive to Vodafone pre-orders this week, but the Mi 11 will be more widely available from 22 March. For a limited time, Amazon orders will get £100 off, and Mi.com orders will come with a £100 voucher for the Mi Store. We’re looking at all the places you can buy the Xiaomi Mi 11 here.
The Mi 11 boasts impressive specs. Aside from the Snapdragon 888 under the hood, which promises major performance improvements and 5G support, it also packs in fast charging (both wired and wireless), a slender design, and top tier display and camera. You’ll have to live without the telephoto lenses you’ll find on most rivals, but other than that you’re getting a lot of performance for the price.
Deputy editor Dominic Preston recommends the Mi 11 for its fast performance, excellent main camera, great design and value, saying that the “Mi 11 is almost unbeatable on hardware for the price, trouncing rivals on charging, camera, and display tech – and it looks slick too”. Unsurprisingly, the handset received 4/5 stars in our review.
Alongside the Mi 11, Xiaomi announced that the Mi Watch and Mi Watch Lite smartwatches are finally launching in the UK, for £119 and £59 respectively. A special Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team Edition of the Mi Scooter Pro 2 will also arrive in the UK this year, for the more princely sum of £799.
Head to Vodafone now to pick up a free electric scooter with the Mi 11.
