Documentary Framing Britney Spears will launch in the UK tomorrow thanks to Sky Documentaries. It will air at 9pm GMT ready for you to stream.
The documentary was produced by the New York Times and originally shown on Hulu in the US. It charts the pop star’s battle over her $59 million estate and her mental health crisis in 2007.
If you’re not a Sky Q customer then you can also watch it contract-free on Now TV with an Entertainment Pass. That’s £9.99 a month and provides access to a wealth of content, but a 7-day free trial is available to any new customers so you can watch for free.
“Her rise was a global phenomenon. Her downfall was a cruel national sport,” said Sky. “People close to Britney Spears and lawyers tied to her conservatorship now reassess her career as she battles her father in court over who should control her life.”
The film provoked such a response upon release that former boyfriend Justin Timberlake publicly apologised for his treatment of Spears, which was highlighted in the film.
It seems, according to Bloomberg, that Netflix is also working on a rival documentary about Britney, which will be by Erin Lee Carr, who specializes in true crime documentaries such as How to Fix a Drug Scandal.
It’s not the first time Netflix and Hulu have made documentaries on the same subject, having both put together shows about Fyre Festival.
