Just like with its predecessors, Sony’s PlayStation 5 has a fun little tune that plays in the background when you’re browsing the console’s main menu. The melody has changed across the generations, but ultimately, it’s the same song played over and over again, and if you spend a lot of time in the menus, you’ll probably end up getting sick of it.
If that sounds like you, you might be relieved to learn that there is a way to disable the menu music altogether – and it’s as simple as toggling a switch in the Settings menu. We talk you through the process of disabling the PS5’s menu music right here.
If you’re still using the PS4, the process differs slightly – we cover how to disable the menu music on the PS4 separately for those interested.
How to turn off menu music on the PS5
The good news is that if you have had enough of the PS5 menu music, it’s really easy to disable it:
- From the main PS5 dashboard, select the Settings app in the top-right (the Gear cog).
- Select Sound.
- Select Audio output on the left.
- Scroll down to the General section and toggle the Home Screen Music switch off.
The PS5’s menu music should now be disabled – note that this will also disable any music that plays when hovering over games on the dashboard, but not menu sound effects. You can disable Sound Effects directly beneath the Home Screen Music toggle in the same menu if you want a completely silent PS5 navigation experience.
