Discovery Inc. has announced that its streaming service Discovery+ is now available on Samsung Smart TVs and Fire TV devices in the UK and Ireland for just £1/€1 for a month’s subscription. This offer lasts until 28 February, and customers who sign up for the standard PC version are also eligible for this promotion.
Once the month is up, the standard price of Discovery+ is £4.99 per month or £49.99 per year. New customers are eligible for a seven-day free trial on both the monthly and annual plans, whilst Sky Q customers can get the service completely free for a year – read more about the Sky offer here.
The streaming service launched here in the UK on web, mobile and Sky Q in November 2020. Now the app is expanding to more platforms, including Roku, Vodafone mobile and more later on this year.
Discovery+ includes a mix of live and catch-up TV from the likes of Discovery, TLC, Quest, Really and Animal Planet. There’s also more than 1,000 hours of exclusive originals, including Children of the Cult, What Killed Maradona?, Prince Andrew, Maxwell & Epstein, Three Men Four Wheels, and Rachel Khoo’s Chocolate.
In addition, Discovery+ broadcasts content from Eurosport, and will offer programming from Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 and Beijing 2022 further down the line.
Customers that have a Samsung Smart TV from 2017 and onwards will now get Discovery+ as a featured app, and Discovery+ will come pre-installed on new TVs as a priority app. Meanwhile Amazon Fire TV customers can download Discovery+ by searching on the app store, or by using the voice command, “Alexa, open Discovery+”.
