Xiaomi took to the virtual stage earlier this year to reveal not one but three new additions to its popular electric scooter range. The original Mi 365 electric scooter has been laid to rest, replaced by the Xiaomi Mi Scooter 1S, Mi Scooter Pro 2 and entry-level Mi Scooter Essential. The problem for many is that the new range is too expensive, with the Mi Scooter 1S coming in with an RRP of £499, but that’s what makes a limited time deal from Laptops Direct so tempting.
While there are plenty of retailers offering discounts on Xiaomi’s latest electric scooter, including Halfords at £399, Laptops Direct has the best of the bunch right now.
The online retailer is offering the Xiaomi Mi Scooter 1S for £379.97, hacking £119 off the RRP. You can take advantage of free delivery to most of the UK when ordering via Laptops Direct, and if you order early enough, it’ll be delivered the very next day. There’s no code needed either – just head to the site and put your order in. We’ve got a roundup of the best electric scooter deals if Xiaomi’s option isn’t tempting you right now.
What makes the Mi Scooter 1S so tempting? The 250W motor offers top speeds of 15mph and the 275Wh battery boasts 18-mile range, which should be more than sufficient for shorter rides, and Xiaomi’s three-second fold system means it’s quick and easy to set up or pack away too. It builds on the design of the hugely popular Mi 365 scooter and offers something more lightweight – but still heavy at 12.5kg – than the premium Xiaomi Mi Scooter 2 Pro.
It’s worth stressing that it’s currently illegal to ride on public footpaths and roadways in the UK. Still, they’re a big hit among users in the US and many parts of Europe where electric scooters have been fully embraced, and with eScooter trials underway in the UK, the tides could change in the near future – we cover UK electric scooter law in more detail separately for those interested, and we’ve got a roundup of the best electric scooters too.
