Following the successful introduction of a budget 2-in-1 in the Surface Go, Microsoft is attempting to repeat the trick in its laptop line.
The Surface Laptop Go retains the premium look and feel of the Surface Laptop 3, albeit with a slightly lower resolution display and less processing power. It’s already on sale in the US, with the UK release date fast approaching.
When was the Surface Laptop Go released?
Despite having to forgo its usual hardware event, Microsoft announced the Surface Laptop Go on 1 October.
The device was released on 13 October in the US, although we had to wait until 27 October in the UK.
How much does the Surface Laptop Go?
The Surface Laptop Go launched with an eye-catching £549 starting price, but that doesn’t tell the full story. In total, there are three configurations to choose from:
- Intel Core i5, 4GB RAM, 64GB SSD – £549/US$549
- Intel Core i5, 8GB, 128GB – £699/US$699
- Intel Core i5, 8GB, 256GB – £899/US$899

What is the Surface Laptop Go?
The Surface Laptop Go is essentially a budget version of the Surface Laptop 3, Microsoft’s premium ultrabook. It provides the same core experience, albeit with a smaller display and slightly less processing power.
