HP has launched a new ultraportable business laptop, the ProBook 635 Aero G7. It takes advantage of AMD’s latest mobile processors – the Ryzen 4000 series – and is calling the Aero G7 the world’s lightest AMD-based business notebook.
It’s not the only laptop you can buy which weighs under 1kg, but anything around this sort of weight is certainly a bonus if you have to carry it around a lot.
Various models will be available, all with 13.3in Full HD screens. Processors range from the Ryzen 3 4300U up to the Ryzen 7 Pro 4750U, and there’s a maximum of 32GB of RAM and 1TB of Gen3x4 NVMe storage. The ProBook 635 Aero G7 also has the latest Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5, a 10Gbps USB-C port (supporting DisplayPort), two USB 3 ports and an HDMI output.
One of the screen options includes Sure View Reflect, which means the image is only visible if you’re directly in front of it. It appears to be blank as shown above if you’re off to the side, so is ideal if you work on sensitive documents in public places. The same screen option is available on the HP Elite Dragonfly laptop as well.
Other features include modern standby, which enables tasks, such as updates and calendar syncing, to continue in the background, giving an up-to-date view when you return to your laptop. It also includes HP QuickDrop for wireless transfer of documents, photos and more from mobile devices.

Some models will have LTE and the keyboard is spill resistant. There’s a backlit version on some models, but not all. HP also says the ProBook 635 Aero G7 will withstand up to ‘1,000 cycles of disinfection with household wipes’, the first time we’ve ever seen such as specification listed for a laptop.
The ProBook 635 Aero G7 is expected to be released in November, and prices will be announced closer to that date. The ProBook 640 G5 starts at around £730/$999, and we’d expect the entry-level 635 to cost around the same.
