It’s been a quiet time for Bose, but the audio brand is back with some new earbuds at long last to take on the likes of Sony and Apple AirPods Pro. The QuietComfort Earbuds promise to be the “most effective noise cancelling earbuds ever” so let’s take a look.
Note that as well as the QC model, Bose announced a new version of Sport Earbuds which, as the name suggests, are earbuds designed for use during sport and fitness activities.

The Sport Earbuds have the same release date.
How much do the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds cost?
As you might expect, the QuietComfort Earbuds fetch a relatively high price of £249.95/US$279 and you can pre-order them now.
If those are too pricey, then the Sport Earbuds are cheaper at £179.95/US$179.
What are the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds specs?
Bose says that the QC Earbuds “debut proprietary advancements in hardware and software to continue the 20-year legacy of QC headphones.”
So, active noise cancelling (ANC) is the main focus here with the promise of silencing even the ‘harshest environments’ including trucks, buses and horns when you’re out and about or the noisy neighbours.
A good seal is the best place to start for ANC and Bose says that ‘StayHear Max’ tips with wings ensure this, with three sizes in the box. Then the QC Earbuds use multiple mics to listen to the world around you. This is sent to a proprietary chip which has an exclusive algorithm to get rid of it all with an almost real-time inverse signal.
Claiming they offer the best ANC on the market is a bold claim with rivals such as the Sony WF-1000XM3 and Huawei FreeBuds Pro. Check out our chart of the best true wireless earbuds.
Each earbuds is 2cm long but the pair weigh a combined 13g meaning they’re very light.
Complete silence is bliss in certain situations, but ANC can be dangerous or unhelpful in others. When you do need to hear the world around you, it’s possible since the noise cancelling is adjustable to 11 different levels.
Other features include Bluetooth 5.1 and equal compatibility for iOS and Android devices. There are also touch controls, volume-optimised Active EQ technology and further control via the Bose Music app.
When it comes to battery life, the QC Earbuds offer 6 hours with a further 12 (two charges) in the charging case, which supports Qi wireless charging. Quick charging will give you two hours of life from a 15-minute charge.
They come in Triple Black or Soapstone colours and offer IPX4 rating making them sweat and water-resistant to a splash level.
