Following hot on the heels of the addition of Google Assistant, Waze users are getting another new feature. This time, it’s the ability to send a route that you’ve planned using the live web map straight to your phone.
Waze says millions of users check traffic for a journey they’re about to undertake using the online map first before firing up the app on their phone.
Well, starting now, you can send a route straight to the app on Android or iOS, saving you the hassle of having to enter the destination twice.
Plus, if you use the ‘arrive by’ option on the live web map, you’ll even get a notification on your phone telling you when you need to leave, based on current traffic conditions.
You don’t have to log in to plan a route at waze.com/livemap but when you click the Send to app button, you’ll be prompted to scan the QR code – if the app isn’t already installed – or log in with your email and password.
The route will then be synched with the app so the directions are ready to go when you next open it.
“We know a huge number of Waze users visit the Waze.com Live Map each month to check live traffic and road conditions,” said Yael Schwartzberg, Product Manager at Waze.
“We’re excited to now simplify their experience by being the first navigation platform to bring their whole planned drive directly to their app at the click of a button. With many people stuck in front of their computers at home as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak, we’re now giving them a way to make the most of this setup and hit the road as easily as possible once it’s time to leave.”
