After numerous delays due to pandemic, Christopher Nolan’s Tenet is finally out in UK cinemas from today.
The film was originally scheduled for a 17 July 2020 release, and then was delayed to two other dates – and then indefinitely – before finally settling on 26 August 2020 in the UK and countries across Europe and other parts of the world.
American audiences will have to wait a little longer, as Tenet will only be released in select US cities on 3 September. Other countries release dates are staggered across August and September – you can see the full list of Tenet international releases here.
If you’re based in the UK, you can buy your ticket for Tenet now from Cineworld, Odeon, Vue, Showcase, Picturehouse and The Everyman. Unlike Bill & Ted Face the Music and Mulan, the film will not be getting a home streaming release at the same time.
Tenet stars John David Washington, Robert Pattinson and Elizabeth Debicki and tells the story of a secret agent who embarks on a mission to prevent World War III by bending and altering time itself. So far, it’s received mostly favourable reviews from critics, with a score of 81% on Rotten Tomatoes at the time of writing.
Now that Tenet has had its big cinema release, it marks the way for other upcoming blockbuster titles such as Black Widow and No Time to Die – and we assume that its performance will help determine the release plan for movies such as these.
