Since it was announced in June 2019, Waze users on Android in the US have been able to navigate hands-free thanks to Google Assistant integration.
Now, drivers in the UK and other countries where English is spoken can take advantage of the feature, both on Android and iPhone.
By saying “OK Google” when the Waze app is open, they can ask the Assistant for directions to a destination, search for places and also check traffic and incidents along the route.
Google bought Israeli company Waze Mobile back in 2013 and has been developing both its own Maps app and Waze ever since. Waze has a much friendlier interface than Google Maps and has a huge user base around the world.
It became popular because of its crowd-sourced data which enabled it to display real-time traffic information as well as alerts on collisions, police presence and closed roads.
