Xiaomi’s ultra-budget Redmi 9 is now available to buy in the UK for £149. The launch price slashes £10 off the £159 RRP, in celebration of Xiaomi’s 10th anniversary, and also includes a free Mi Smart Band 4 (worth £34.99). The deal ends 16 August.
The dual-SIM Redmi 9 launched in Europe in June 2020 with a model that offered 3GB RAM/32GB. While that configuration won’t launch in the UK, UK customers can get a more robust 4GB RAM/64GB storage option instead.
The Redmi 9 might offer a humble price-tag, but it packs a powerful 5,020mAh battery, 18W wired fast charging, and a decent quad-camera setup featuring an 8Mp ultra-wide lens, 13Mp wide lens, a 3Mp depth sensor, and 5Mp Macro lens – along with an 8Mp on the selfie-cam.
The phone also manages to pack in a rear fingerprint sensor, Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity, NFC support, and a trusty 3.5mm headphone jack.
You can pick up the Redmi 9 from Xiaomi now in either grey, Purple or Green.
It’s a good choice for students looking for good value for money, or parents who want to introduce their children to their first smartphone.
The waterproof Mi Band 4 only adds more value. It’s one of our favourite fitness tracker and can measure both sleep and swim metrics. See why we gave it a score of 4.5/5 stars in our review.
The Redmi 9 deal, of course, is SIM-free so you may want to pick up a cheap SIM to go with it. We’ve rounded up the best SIM-only offers of the month here and the best SIM deals for kids here.
