Microsoft has uploaded to YouTube the video it says it used to present the Surface Duo fully to press on 11 August (video below).
At the time, the video was private and made for journalists to view before Microsoft announced the Duo’s US launch date and price of 10 September and $1,399.
As with all of Microsoft’s recent Surface presentations it is led by Panos Panay, Chief Product Officer. Before introducing the official Duo product video, he said:
“I’m not trying to reinvent the phone, but I do believe this is a better way to get things done, a better to create, and a better way to get things done on a mobile device.”
The use of the first person here is telling. This product would not have come to fruition if it were not for Panay’s obvious passion for the project.
The rest of the presentation sees Panay and his team discuss how the Duo came about, the philosophy behind it, the tech it uses, and how the software works best.
