Google has published a teaser on its store website confirming a new phone, likely the Pixel 4a, will launch on 3 August.
Spotted by 9to5Google, the page went up around the same time that the company updated its Made by Google Twitter page header photo (below).
While the header phone bars out words in Google’s trademark colours, the teaser’s blocks are interactive. If you click through the cycling colours until you land on the correct order from the Google logo – blue, red, yellow, blue, green, and red – the words ‘Just What You’ve Been Waiting For’ appear.

The 4a was probably slated for unveiling at Google’s cancelled I/O conference back in May, but it’s not known why the phone has taken so long to be released since then.
We hope to get hands-on with the much anticipated device to see if it can reach the high bar Google set itself with 2019’s Pixel 3a.
