Facebook has said it is rolling out an update to its Messenger mobile apps that will let you use a screen share feature.
The iOS and Android Messenger apps will let those in video calls and using the Messenger Rooms mode share their phone or tablet screens with others on the call.
Screen share has long been a feature of business video calling software, and Facebook seems to have leaned into the idea that in this time of pandemic people will want to share things more regularly when not in person.
“We know people are trying to stay connected more than ever,” said Nora Micheva, Product Manager in a
blog post. “Screen sharing lets you share a live view of your screen so you can share virtually anything together. Whether you want to share memories from your camera roll, shop together online, co-browse social media, and more — screen sharing makes it easy to stay connected and close with your loved ones, even when you’re physically apart.”
During a video call on Messenger you can swipe up on the bottom of the screen to find the screen sharing option. Just make sure you’ve updated the app to the latest version.
Messenger screen sharing is also available on the web and via its desktop apps.
