Castlevania season 4 news, trailers and release date

Castlevania is an anime quite unlike anything else. Based on the cult video game series about vampires, this dark and graphic series follows Trevor Belmont, a legendary vampire hunter, as he goes across the kingdom to fight all manners of dark creatures. Not to mention the cast of A-list stars that are signed on, with Bill Nighy being a fixture in the last season.

When will Castlevania season 4 air?

All ten episodes of Castlevania season 4 are out now, fitting in with the Netflix binge culture. 

Season 4 is the last season of Castlevania. However, there is allegedly a spin-off series in the works with an entirely new series of characters. This is in-keeping with the games, which follows a different member of the Belmont clan each time.

Warren Ellis has written the scripts for season 4 – but due to sexual misconduct allegations he will no longer be involved with the franchise.

Spoilers for previous seasons of Castlevania

There were a few plot threads set up at the end of season 3. With Lenore now having enslaved Hector, Camila can now move forward in taking over Wallachia. Of course, it’s almost certain that her armies and invasions will cross directly with Issac, the other former forge master who used to work directly with Hector.

We wouldn’t be surprised to see a big epic battle go down between the two sides. Who will win is anyone’s guess, but Issac’s power has grown significantly over the last season.

Things ended pretty bleak for Alucard, Dracula’s son, at the end of season 3. After being betrayed by Taka and Sumi, the half-vampire had the two staked outside of his home as a warning to any future visitors. We imagine that he has some serious trust issues, and may have to battle with his own personal demons to avoid going fully over to the dark side.

This could be the catalyst for reuniting with Trevor and Sypha. After the pair had defeated the disturbing Dracula-worshipping cult in Lindenfeld, their plot was left quite open-ended. After being away from Alucard for an entire season, we’d look forward to seeing the trio back together once again.

The trailer also revealed a mysterious voice, who is believed to be Death himself. Death is the second-in-command to Dracula in the games, and will likely be one of the main foes for Trevor in this season. 

Then of course, there’s the Infinite Corridor, where Count Saint Germain still remains. It was presumed that he reunited with his partner, but this gateway to other dimensions has a lot of other bizarre things dwelling in there. If somehow the gateway is reopened and he does find a way back to this world, there’s a chance that those other things could do too.

And that includes the big bad himself.

Will Dracula return to Castlevania?

By introducing the Infinite Corridor into the picture, we now know that Dracula has a way to return from the depths of Hell.

In the games, Dracula serves as the final boss nearly every time, so we’d be surprised if the show didn’t find a way to resurrect him. Giving a season off from him allowed other enemies like Camila and Issac to flourish, so it would certainly complicate things if suddenly Dracula was back in the picture.

When we last saw Dracula, he was finally reunited with his long-lost wife Lisa, who was the reason his hatred for humans began as she was burnt at the stake for being accused of witchcraft. If another cult (like what we saw in Lindenfeld) were to successfully bring Dracula back, they would take him away from his wife, and thereby start the cycle all over again.

The trailer confirms that many are trying to resurrect Dracula, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him back on the screen.
