Ninebot Segway ES2 electric scooter is now just £287 from Gearbest

The UK lockdown eases on 13 May. Many are poised to return to work, but the official advice remains clear: avoid public transport if you can. As a result, the UK government is also easing its restrictions against e-scooters and fast-tracking trials for public use in any region of the country that wants to participate in e-scooter schemes.

While laws still restrict using a personal e-scooter, the announcement marks a potential change in e-scooters regulation.

Those looking for an electric scooter as an alternative to cycling or walking – or just for use on their own property – should take a look at Gearbest’s current flash sale discount on the Ninebot Segway ES2 electric scooter, which has been reduced to £286.65. So what separates the ES2 from M365? Ninebot manufactures both the Xiaomi M365 and Segway ES2, after all. Ninebot, originally a Xiaomi-backed startup, acquired Segway in 2015. Though the M365 remains a haloed choice for most scooter fans, the ES2 zooms ahead its Xiaomi sister in quite a few areas.

First, while both electric scooters are metal-framed the ES2 weighs less at 12.5kg compared to the M365’s 12.7kg.

Both scooters also rev up to 25km/h, but the Ninebot ES2 can go up to 30km/h with an additional battery pack. If you want to know your speed without referring to an app, the ES2 is kitted out with a display too, which (more importantly) indicates the battery status – whereas the M365 only shows the battery levels with LED lights. 

In terms of charging, the ES2 takes slightly less time to get fully juiced, at around 4 hours, while the M365 takes 5 to 5.5 hours.
