Apple is ready to release a new, updated version of its Apple TV 4K according to leaker extraordinaire Jon Prosser. He claims the model will get the A12X chip, the same one found in the 2018 iPad Pro.

He claims it’ll come with 64GB or 128GB storage. This is all up from the A10X and 32GB/64GB of the current generation of Apple TV 4K that was launched way back in 2017 that Apple sells from £179.
Unlike other Apple hardware, the Apple TV doesn’t need updating often given it is mainly a streaming box. Apple may be planning the upgrade to ensure anyone using it to play Apple Arcade games has enough processing power.
And more storage is always good news.
Of course, you can only take advantage of 4K if you have a 4K TV. There are also cheaper ways to stream 4K content, including the £50 Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K that even now has the Apple TV+ app – so you can get that and stream Apple, Amazon and Netflix’s content for far less than the Apple TV hardware and at the same 4K resolution.
Apple has always asked its customers to pay more for the premium, and we styill feel this is most evident with the Apple TV. But if you’re in the market for one, it might be best to wait and see if this new model drops in the next few weeks.
