OnePlus has announced that it will host a ‘pop-up’ event online to celebrate the release of its upcoming OnePlus 8 series of phones.
The company has previously hosted several physical pop-up events across the world to coincide with its phone launches, but the coronavirus pandemic has meant that the OnePlus 8 event will be strictly online.
The online pop-up will be an interactive experience designed around letting fans of OnePlus buy the phones just after they are announced, as the pop-up will go live at 5pm BST on 14 April when the keynote ends.
“As a digital first brand, we want to bring the same pop-up experience to our community, but at the comfort of their home, keeping in mind their safety and wellbeing,” said Tuomas Lampen, Head of Strategy, OnePlus Europe. “The online pop-up will allow community members to be among the first to own the OnePlus 8 Series and also share their experience with the world.”
OnePlus added:
“As a part of the OnePlus Online Pop-up experience, users can visit the OnePlus official website and be the first to purchase and own the device of their choice from the OnePlus 8 series. The special pop-up box will be dispatched to the buyers on April 15th, which will include the device as well as OnePlus branded goodies. The pop-up boxes will be available in limited quantity across Europe and users can purchase on a first come first serve basis, similar to the offline pop-up experience.”
We expect there to be some sort of queue system given the limited quantity of pop-up boxes, so be sure to check in on the site on 14 April to be sure of a place in the queue. The keynote starts at 4pm BST and will be streamed on the OnePlus website and via YouTube.
