Headspace, the popular meditation and mental health app, is offering free subscriptions to all the UK’s NHS workers in light of the coronavirus pandemic. The service usually costs US$69.99 per year.
“This is an extraordinary moment in time as we face an unprecedented global health crisis,” said Rich Pierson, Co-Founder and CEO of Headspace.
“COVID-19 has put our health professionals at the NHS under enormous pressure and they are undoubtedly experiencing mounting stress and anxiety as the situation rapidly evolves. As a Brit myself, I know first-hand the incredible work our NHS does, which is why the Headspace team is working to do all we can to support those on the front lines.”
Any of the 1.2 million healthcare providers and employees of the NHS can enter their details via a special Headspace landing page and get a free Headspace Plus subscription until 31 December this year. Headspace said it was also launching a similar program for US healthcare professionals.
The Headspace app has been well reviewed and has been shown to reduce anxiety and stress with meditative audio content and advice.
The company has even added a Covid-19-specific ‘Weathering the Storm’ section in its app that is available free to any user, with a range of meditation and sleep exercises aimed at relieving the stress of our current trying times.
