Mobvoi has announced its new TicWatch Pro 2020, a slight update to its dual screen smartwatch from last year the TicWatch Pro. The dual display smartwatch can use a lower powered screen when needed to save battery, while it doubles the RAM from the old version up to 1GB.
Mobvoi claims the battery will last between two and thirty days depending on use, which is quite the range. If you’re using things like GPS a lot and apps on the colour screen, it’s going to run the battery down much faster than if you’re just using the basic monochrome display.
The new watch runs Google’s Wear OS and has a Military Standard 810G rating, meaning it can withstand a proper beating from the elements, though it’s only water resistant for 30 minutes at 1.5m, so don’t take it diving. It comes with a heart rate sensor and all the fitness features and tracking you’d get from other Wear OS devices.

The design of the watch is quite masculine but is attractive as it looks like a regular watch, from the round face to the buttons and the leather strap. But it might not be to everyone’s taste, and the dual display does make it a bit of a chonker.
When we reviewed the original TicWatch Pro we gave it 7/10, praising the dual screen design for its battery saving features but marked it down for the resulting bulk and slow performance. The addition of more RAM and what Mobvoi says are “essential hardware upgrades to optimise performance and durability”, hopefully the Pro 2020 will fare better.
The TicWatch line has quietly produced a fair few decent smartwatches over the past couple of years and can represent good value. The TicWatch Pro 2020 is its most expensive watch at £222.99 and is on sale now in black or silver.
