Sony has announced what it calls the Back Button Attachment accessory for the PlayStation 4’s DualShock 4 controller. Either button can be mapped to one of 16 different control functions.
It has an OLED display to show what’s been assigned and a stereo headphone jack input. You can save up to three profiles to easily switch between set ups depending on the game.
In a blog post, Sony suggests remapping the buttons to actions like triangle, circle, R1 or R2, suggesting the accessory could make it easier to pull off complicated moves in certain games. It could also help players with less dexterity.

The accessory goes on sale in Europe on 14th February for €29.99, with a UK price to be confirmed. The US and Canada get it earlier on 23 January for $29.99 / CAD$39.99.
