Oppo Find X2 to launch on 22 February

Oppo confirmed in December that the flagship Find X is finally getting a sequel, with the Find X2 set to be officially unveiled in early 2020.

We knew that the launch would take place at MWC Barcelona – the world’s largest exhibition for mobile phones – at the end of February. This will mark the company’s second global smartphone launch, following the original  Find X last year.

It was then confirmed that this press conference would take place ahead of all the other MWC press conferences on Saturday 22 February, kicking off at 2pm CET (1pm GMT).

But, and it’s a big but, MWC has now been cancelled by GSMA. Where this leaves us with Oppo’s press conference is not currently clear.

While we don’t have any actual specs yet, Oppo confirmed that it will be one of the first phones powered by  Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 865 processor, revealed at the company’s Snapdragon Tech Summit. That means that like other 865-powered phones the Find X2 will have full 5G support.

This news follows Oppo’s Inno Day in Shenzhen, which revealed plans for new Oppo products including  AR glasses, smartwatches and smart earphones, as well as panels on the future of 5G.

Oppo Executive Director, Michael Tran discussed what users can expect from the next phone in the Find series. “We know that more and more consumers are using their devices to play games or consume content on the go. We feel confident that the Find X2 will provide them with the most immersive experience possible to do so.”

So far there are no images or confirmation on pricing, but the Find X launched at £799 in the UK, so we imagine that the Find X2 will be around a similar cost.
