Amazon bought doorbell and home security company ring in 2018 for over $1bn, and the companies announced the new
Ring Stick Up Cam and
Ring Indoor Cam at an event in Seattle back in September 2019, but the latter was only available in the US – until now. They are two of the
fifteen new hardware products Amazon launched.
2019 Ring Stick Up Cam price & release date
Ring’s doorbells are affordable home security products and that is reflected in the well-priced £89/$99 Stick Up Cam. It was released on 23 October 2019 in the UK and US, and can be picked up via both
All-new Stick Up Cam features
As the name suggests, you really can just stick it up. It’s suitable for indoor and outdoor use, has motion sensing built in and can record in 1080p. There are three versions available – battery-powered, wired or solar-powered.
The motion detection will alert you via your smartphone when activated, so the camera is really designed to be on during the day and when you’re on holiday much like Ring’s doorbells. The Stick Up Cam even has two-way talk, so if it’s by your door you can talk to visitors or delivery staff if you’re not there.
Ring Indoor Cam
The Indoor Cam is self-explanatory and costs even less at £49/$59. It has all the features of the Stick Up Cam but is designed to sit plugged in permanently. With the same features as the Stick Up Cam, it’s best suited to monitoring kids or pets while you’re out of the house or set to pick up possible intruders when you’re away.
Indoor Cam has been available to order in the US since announcement, while the UK had to wait until January 2020 to pick one up. You can now buy the Indoor Cam via
Ring, along with
Amazon and other retailers too.
