Amazon launched no fewer than fifteen new hardware products at its event in Seattle today as well as some other services. One of the cheapest of them all is the Echo Glow, a smart light for children.
It’s Amazon’s take on the classic night light and will either glow (as the name suggests), flicker like a fire or even light up in a party mode. Kids can ask Alexa to change the colour, but parents can go further and set colour-based routines cycles to encourage their children to get into a routine themselves.
A rainbow timer changes through the colours of the rainbow for a visual countdown, which Amazon said could be helpful in getting children ready for bed, making them gently aware how much time they must do it in.
It’ll mean as a parent you need to be comfortable putting another Alexa device in your kids’ bedroom as the Echo Glow needs one to work, but it could be a good way to help kids form routines and play with colours. It might also placate them and make them stop messing about with your other tech, too.
