Huami has teased its new Amazfit Smart Sports Watch 3 online, confirming it will launch on 27 August in China (via TizenHelp). Huami is the sub-brand that turns out smartwatch products under the Xiaomi umbrella.
The below teaser poster was uploaded to Weibo by Huami and apes the famous “Run, Forrest, Run!” line from Forrest Gump, indicating this is indeed a fitness watch. The Smart Sports Watch 3 will unsurprisingly replace last year’s Smart Sports Watch 2. At the time of writing the latter is available to buy for £135.
Huami’s leaked design (top of page) for the Watch 3 clearly is taking its design cues from the immensely popular Apple Watch Series 4. The latest version of Apple’s wearable changed the casing design for the first time and it’s not unusual for the rest of the industry to follow suit as a way to tempt customers to spend much less on something similar.
Huami also shared on Weibo an image of the presentation box of the watch, minus the watch itself. It includes branded shoes and a t-shirt and could be what early buyers of the watch will receive as a gift.
