Sky has updated how its customers will watch TV on the go with its new Sky Go app that incorporates its Sky Q service.
Rather than two apps for Q and Go, this summer Sky will consolidate its often-confusing mobile services into one place to encourage people to watch more on their tablets and smartphones. The ability to record shows (for Sky Q Multiscreen customers only) within the app should help this happen.
Downloads are only available for Sky Go Extra subscribers. The updated app adds more, but still highlights Sky’s fragmented subscription model where you have to pay an awful lot to get all the features – as good as Sky Q is.
In an attempt to make the Sky Go experience more like Netflix and Amazon Prime, the app will introduce personalised Sky Cinema recommendations as well as additional improvements to the interface for visually impaired customers.
The app will roll out in the summer according Sky, so this should be soon considering it’s August, and it’ll be available on iOS, Android, Amazon Fire, PC and Mac. Or you could just watch the TV.
