Sony’s PlayStation 4 (along with the high-end PS4 Pro) are this generation’s best-selling consoles with a combined 92 million sales to date. It’s not hard to see why either, with a combination of powerful hardware, a simplistic user experience and a whole host of high-quality, engaging platform-exclusive games including God of War and the upcoming Death Stranding.
But while the PS4 is the winner amongst current-gen consoles, it’s not perfect. One of the biggest annoyances amongst PS4 players is the background music that plays on loop when you’re in the home menu of the PS4. It’s actually quite a relaxing little tune, but once you’ve listened to it for an hour non-stop while waiting for a game to download, it can really irritate you.
The good news is that there’s a way to disable the PS4 background music, and it’s so simple to do that you’ll question why you’ve spent the past six years listening to the same annoying music over and over again.
How to turn off PS4 background music
It really is a quick-and-easy process to disable background music on your PS4:
- Turn on your PS4.
- Head to Settings > Sound and Screen.
- Clear the checkbox next to System Music to disable it.
And there you go! You’ve now got a peaceful home menu with no trace of that annoying elevator music-esque tune in the background. If you do find that you miss it, simply head back to the Sound and Screen menu and re-check the System Music checkbox.
We told you it was simple, right?
