Amazon’s Prime Day, set for 15-16 July dominates nearly all discussions related to bargain hunting in the summer, but eBay may have just taken the lead. In a sudden announcement, the online shopping giant has effectively crashed Amazon’s Prime Day with a 15-day sale, starting today.

It’s a direct challenge to Prime Day, which requires customers to be Prime members to get Prime Day deals. Membership costs £7.99 per month (
though a free 30-day trial is available). Rob Hattrell, VP of eBay UK stated, “We don’t think we should be charging our customers a membership fee for them to enjoy great discounts and offers, and for the next fifteen days we will be sharing our best ever discounts with them”.
