Amazon does update the Kindle range fairly regularly, somewhat rotating around the models and it’s the turn of the premium Oasis which comes in at the same price but with an upgraded warm light.
It’s confusing to keep track of the Kindle range in terms of generations so Amazon simply calls it the ‘all-new Kindle Oasis’ instead. We’ll be calling it the Kindle Oasis 2019 to indicate when it launched. You can read our full Kindle Oasis 2019 review.
The Kindle Oasis 2019 will be released on 24 July so you can buy it now with prices starting at £229/$249 meaning no change in cost compared to the previous Kindle Oasis from 2017.
That entry-level model comes with 8GB of storage but you can upgrade to 32GB at £259/$279. If you require (free) cellular data for downloading books on the go without finding some Wi-Fi then this model will set you back £319.
On the whole, the Oasis for 2019 is more of the same to the eReader still has a 7in 300ppi screen, waterproofing (IPX8) and support for Audible.
The key new feature is an adjustable warm light which Amazon says will allow you to customise the reading experience better than before. It means you can choose a range of tones between white to amber for more comfortable night-time reading.
Like many smartphones, you can also set the screen to automatically adjust the colour temperature with sunrise and sunset. Amazon is calling it the best Paperwhite display ever.
The Kindle Oasis 2019 still features an ergonomic metal wedge shape design with dedicated page turn buttons as well as the touchscreen. It will once again come in Graphite or Gold colours.
Fabric and leather cases range from £39 to £64.
