At the HP Gaming Festival in Beijing, HP launched the world’s first dual-screen gaming laptop. Its brand-new OMEN X 2S gaming laptop is also the first piece of equipment to benefit from a liquid metal compound cooled CPU.
Responding to gaming industry statistics that claim that 82% of gamers use their mobile phones for messaging, 61% of gamers listen to music and 49% of gamers stream live videos, browse websites or watch game related content simultaneously whilst playing, HP aimed to create a laptop that would cater to a new generation of gamers.
The second screen of the OMEN X 2S is an accessible, six-inch 1080p touchscreen situated above the keyboard which gives gamers the opportunity to talk to friends across apps such as WeChat and WhatsApp, listen to music on Spotify or watch videos on YouTube and Twitch all without interrupting their gaming session.
Kevin Frost, vice president and general manager, Consumer Personal Systems, HP Inc, claims that: “Pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with game-changing evolutionary and revolutionary products reflects the philosophy of reinvention at HP.” Frost also believes that: “The OMEN brand continues to think big and OMEN X 2S is a prime example of how we are setting new standards and changing how a gaming laptop is used.”
With the new OMEN X 2S the multitasking possibilities are endless, and the real-time screen mirroring feature allows gamers to cut and magnify parts of the main screen to the second screen which centres vision and keeps head movement more vertical than horizontal.
The OMEN X 2S comes complete with a 9th generation Intel® Core™ i9 processor which enables gaming, streaming and multitasking to take place, and with up to 32GB of DDR4-3200 RAM with Intel® XM gamers need not worry about buffering or running short on storage.
Alongside being the world’s first dual-screen laptop, the OMEN X 2S is also the first gaming laptop to contain a liquid metal cooling compound with the thermal system. This Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut allows heat to dissipate meaning more hours of gaming without a rise in temperature, and the OMEN Tempest Cooling Technology provides the ultimate thermal solution for regular gamers.
The OMEN X 2S gaming laptop is expected to be available by June whilst the 240 Hz option is expected to be available in July.
