We’ve been desperately waiting to learn the fate of our favourite superheroes after
Avengers: Infinity War reached a devastating conclusion with a snap of Thanos’ fingers back in April 2018. That wait is now over as
Avengers: Endgame hit the cinemas at the end of April 2019. It’s the
22nd movie in the series, an epic three-hour homage that marks the end of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Infinity Saga.
Previous Marvel movies have been well-known for their mid- and post-credit scenes, some humorous and others leading on to what comes next. Most recently, in
Captain Marvel, we saw Carol Danvers jumping to Nick Fury’s pager for help, itself set up by a post-credit scene from Infinity War.
So if Endgame is the end of phase three of the MCU, what does come next? Marvel is keeping tight-lipped until Endgame and the upcoming
Spider-Man: Far From Home have released, so it perhaps shouldn’t come as a huge surprise that there is no mid- or post-credit scene at the end of Avengers: Endgame.
…Or, at least, there wasn’t.
Two weeks after its release Marvel has begun adding the new trailer for Spider-Man: Far From Home to the end of the movie, since it’s packed with spoilers for Endgame in its own right, and is in essence the next step in the story. Still, you can also just watch that online, so you probably won’t care enough to stick around *just* for that.
Hang around to the very end of the credits and you’ll also see the Marvel logo pop up onscreen, along with what sounds like metal on metal, and as some have pointed out it is very much akin to Tony Stark engineering the first Iron Man suit. It gives away almost nothing, except perhaps confirmation that phase four of the MCU is underway, and that the Iron Man character could factor into that.
Of course, we already knew there was more to come, with several movies from the next phase of the MCU already expected (we won’t give away any spoilers here).
Avengers: Endgame is in cinemas now. Tickets are on sale now, and you can order them from
Atom Tickets in the US, and cinemas including
Odeon in the UK.
