Last week, both the Google Home Mini and Amazon Echo Dot 3 saw £20 discounts. If you didn’t pick one up then, you still can now. Both devices have been discounted to £29.99.
The Home Mini is available from Currys PC World, Argos, John Lewis, and AO.com.
If you’are after the Echo Dot 3, you can of course get it from Amazon, but there is over a month-long wait. The devices don’t come in stock until 8 March.
Currys is the only High Street retailer offering the Dot at Amazon’s price. While you can’t have it delivered, you can order online and pick it up in-store – in theory, as stocks seem limited. We could not find a Currys location with availability despite trying a few different regions, but your luck may be better than ours. It’s still worth keeping an eye on in case Currys restock soon.
The Home Mini and Echo Dot 3 are the entry-level devices from Google and Amazon’s respective smart home ranges. Both devices are impressive in their own rights and come recommended by our editors.
The Home Mini, which excels in search-based commands, received 4 stars out of 5, while the Echo Dot, which recently saw an upgrade to its speaker quality received 4.5 stars out of 5.
To see which device is best for you see our full side-by-side comparison of the Home Mini to the Echo Dot 3. There we compare design, audio quality, voice assistant intelligence, and other features.
The price drop on both devices is one of the most competitive we’ve seen, though the Echo Dot 3 saw discount to £24.99 for Black Friday last November. Despite this, £20 off is still a pretty saving on two excellent smart home devices.
