Freeview has launched its
iOS smartphone app that allows the streaming of live TV to mobile devices within the UK. The Android application will arrive at a later date in 2019.
The application will provide free on-the-go access to the nation’s most popular channels including the BBC, ITV and Channel 4.
As well as providing this service for free without the need for a subscription the Freeview app will give access to on-demand programmes from the BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, All 4, My5 and UKTV Play.
The new app has replaced the current Freeview TV Guide app which simply lists what’s on the TV service for the next seven days. This is a major step forward for the service and marks the first time you’ll be able to access content via Freeview without a traditional aerial.
The app is currently available on the
App Store as of today, but Android owners have a longer wait – the application will hit the Play Store sometime in the spring.
If you’re a big fan of excellent TV, then you’ll want to make sure you know about
the best TV shows to watch on Netflix right now.
