The Voxvox database was found to be accessible by Berlin-based security researcher Sébastien Kaul. The database was only taken down after Voxvox were contacted by TechCrunch, while it contained text messages sent to customers from giants such as Google, Amazon and Microsoft.
The server was still active for some time after the breach was discovered, meaning that anyone with the know-how could monitor a virtually uninterrupted stream of live data to discover a wide variety of personal information. Two-factor authentication security is considered one of the most secure methods of keeping your account safe available, but someone could have easily intercepted a 2FA code if they had access to this database.
