For years Amazon has been selling some of its most popular products for less than their asking price – sometimes way less – and you probably never even realised. Welcome to the wonderful world of Amazon Warehouse, where the corporate giant offloads its (barely) used products and stock at discount prices.
What is Amazon Warehouse?
Amazon Warehouse is a subsite where the company sells stock that customers have returned for one reason or other, offering it to shoppers at discounted prices. Other times, the stock can be items that were damaged in the warehouse or lost by Amazon staff (but later re-discovered).
That might sound unappealing at first if you’re not used to buying used products, but remember that in a huge number of cases these returns won’t really be used – they’ll be products that people tried once, decided they didn’t want, and returned almost immediately. You might be able to get something that’s almost new or simply has damaged packaging at a lower price, which is no bad thing.
The Warehouse range covers products across most of Amazon’s catalogue, so it’s perfect for your next big tech purchase or just for stocking your kitchen cupboards or buying some new clothes.
Amazon is also good about detailing the condition each product is in, with broad ratings like ‘Acceptable’, ‘Good’, ‘Very Good’ or ‘Like New’, along with more detailed descriptions of any specific damage or imperfections for each specific product. Each product has also been tested by Amazon staff, so you can be guaranteed that it will have at least basic functionality.
Naturally, prices also vary according to condition, so for a given product you might find multiple Amazon Warehouse offers at different prices depending on the condition each is in.
How to find Amazon Warehouse deals?
There are a few ways to access and order the best Amazon Warehouse deals. The first is simply to visit Amazon’s dedicated Warehouse Deals section, where you can browse by product category and look for whatever you want.
You should also keep an eye out for seasonal offers like Prime Day, where you might find bigger discounts across certain product categories, or even extra discounts across the whole Warehouse site.
You can also choose ‘Amazon Warehouse Deals’ in the departments listed in the drop-down when searching for offers:
The other way to find offers is simply to browse Amazon normally and keep an eye out for the link to buy a used version:
Once you click, Amazon will list all used versions at various prices, so you can pick which you want.
Take note though: not all of them will be part of Amazon Warehouse, as some will be just be used products sold by other retailers through Amazon. To know if it’s from Amazon Warehouse, check the “Sold by” detail.
Others should hopefully also work well and save you money, but you won’t get the same guarantees as the official Amazon Warehouse program.
Remember that because the availability of offers is determined by which products are returned to Amazon, Warehouse stock can change rapidly – making it well worth checking regularly, and ordering quickly if you spot a good deal.
How to find Amazon Warehouse in the Amazon app?
On the Amazon App, click the hamburger menu in the top left. Next, choose ‘Shop by Department’ and scroll until you find ‘Amazon Warehouse Deals’.
Do Amazon Warehouse deals come with a warranty? What’s the return policy?
Perhaps the best part of using Amazon Warehouse is that it’s still subject to Amazon’s usual returns policy and customer service. That means that if you’re unhappy with a product for any reason – whether it’s more damaged than you expected or it’s simply not quite what you wanted – you have 30 days to return it for a full refund.
Amazon Warehouse products are also backed with a 1-year warranty. If the item you buy via the Warehouse becomes defective after the return period, you can get it repaired and possibly replaced. See Amazon’s Warranty Repairs policy for more details.
Because every Warehouse product is also fulfilled by Amazon, they’re all eligible for next-day delivery with Amazon Prime too, which is always a nice touch. Check out our guide to Amazon Prime for more of the other benefits it gives you access to.
What does ‘Used – Like New’ mean in Amazon Warehouse?
Amazon Warehouse has a whole taxonomy to define the condition of products.
Sitting at the top are atems listed as ‘Renewed’. These are refurbished devices that have been thoroughly inspected and repaired to work and look just like new.
The company defines ‘Like New’ products as those that are in perfect working condition but may lack the protective wrapping. The original packaging should all be in tact however.
‘Used – Very Good’ refers to items that have been slightly used but is still in good working condition. There may be some superficial marks or scratches and the packaging may be damaged. Some accessories could also be missing, but Amazon Warehouse will note any missing accessories.
Is Amazon Warehouse legit?
Products sold on Amazon Warehouse are tested by Amazon, though sometimes what qualifies as ‘Very Good’ to the company’s testers, may only seem ‘Good’ to you. However, you can find relief in the 30-day return policy should you run into any issues.
And as mentioned, be sure that when you buy a product that the seller really is ‘Amazon Warehouse Deals’ and not someone else in the Amazon marketplace.
