With an all-star cast, homages to some iconic videogame moments and a release just ahead of the Easter holidays, the Super Mario Bros. Movie is expected to be a smash hit at the box office.
The adaptation follows Mario (voiced by Chris Pratt) as he teams up with the leader of the Mushroom Kingdom, Princess Peach (voiced by Anya Taylor-Joy) to stop the menacing Bowser (voiced by Jack Black) from taking over the world.

Does the Mario movie have a post-credits scene?
Don’t leave as soon as the film ends, because The Super Mario Bros. Movie has two post-credits scenes.
There is one mid-credits scene, and one right at the end, so get comfortable if you want to know what this film is teasing for the future.
The Mario movie post-credits scenes explained
Before we start, consider this your official major spoiler warning.
Still with us? The first mid-credits scene is a callback to earlier in the film, with Bowser at the piano keys, singing about Princess Peach. When a Toad guard tells Bowser to shut up, we see that the foe hasn’t yet returned to his full, menacing size after being fed a blue mini mushroom.
He vows that he’ll escape someday – perhaps for a future movie?
The second post-credits scene is where things get very interesting. We cut back to New York, where the pipe system that transported Mario and Luigi to the Mushroom Kingdom is located.
The warp pipe is now wrecked after Mario led a bullet bill down there earlier in the movie (for a good cause, naturally). The pipe has sucked in more things to Brooklyn, and it appears that it has managed to draw in a Yoshi egg.
The egg begins to hatch as the movie cuts to black – so it looks like Yoshi is joining the fray for the next movie.
Will there be a sequel to the Mario movie?
The final post-credits scene strongly hints that the Mario movie will have a sequel, or some spin-offs, providing it does well. However, this hasn’t officially been confirmed by Universal/Nintendo yet.
We now know that it will involve Yoshi in some capacity, but there are endless options for this universe. For example, Pratt expressed enthusiasm for a Luigi’s Mansion spin-off. We should learn more in the coming weeks.
