Scottish pizza oven brand Ooni is launching two new products – the Ooni Volt 12 and the Karu 12G – and one doesn’t even need the great outdoors to be useful.
The Volt 12 is its first electric indoor and outdoor pizza oven, while the brand bills the outdoor Karu 12G as “the world’s most advanced portable pizza oven”.
The Volt 12 is a totally new product for the brand, as all of its ovens to date have been outdoor only and fueled by wood, charcoal or gas. Ooni’s Co-Founder and Co-CEO, Darina Garland said: “We’ve spent years developing an oven that brings the pure pizza power of our outdoor ovens indoors!”
Ooni put its years of pizza oven engineering to the test in designing a product that can reach the extremely high temperatures demanded of a pizza oven, while still being safe for a domestic kitchen.
The Volt 12 can reach 450°C in 20 minutes and cook a 12in Neapolitan pizza in just 90 seconds. It can also be used to make New York and pan-style pizzas. It has a temperature control and a timer, and the temperature can go as low as 150°C so it can be used for other types of baking, as well as cooking meat, vegetables and more.
It also has a boost function to quickly reheat your pizza stone and ensure that if you’re cooking more than one pizza, every single one comes out as well as the first.
The Vott 12 has a triple-glazed borosilicate glass door, so you can see your pizza cooking and it’s been designed to fit onto a standard kitchen counter. It weighs 18kg, so although you won’t be storing it in an overhead cabinet, it is possible to move it around. It’s a good-looking appliance as well, with a pared-back, modern design.

It’s IPX4 rated and is also suitable for outside use, as long as you have a safe socket available. The Volt 12 has an RRP of £799 and you can buy it from Ooni today.
The all-new Karu 12G
Ooni is also launching the versatile Karu 12G, which is based on the design of its larger outdoor pizza oven the Karu 16, but with some upgrades.
Like its bigger brother, it can be fuelled by wood, charcoal or gas. However, it’s more fuel-efficient than Ooni’s previous models, using 36% less propane (that’s if you’re using the optional gas burner attachment).
Kristian Tapaninaho, Founder and Co-CEO says that the Karu 12G is “for everyone who wants to make great pizza at home or to take the pizza party on the road. This oven embodies a decade of pizza oven product development, and delivers a superior pizza-making experience.”

Ooni
The Karu 12G has the luxury features of the Karu 16, but in a smaller size similar to the Frya 12 and for a more appealing price. It takes just 15 minutes to heat up to 500°C and it can cook a pizza in only 60 seconds. It has a built-in analog thermometer, drop-down door and borosilicate glass window, plus an extra-large fuel tray.
It’s been built to be portable and easy to transport, weighing 15.5kg. The Karu 12G is priced at £379 and is available for pre-order from Ooni ahead of its release in June.

Ooni
If you’d like to stock up on some pizza making accessories, Ooni is also launching space-saving pizza dough boxes for proving dough balls (£49.99 each from Ooni), and pizza prep lids (£34.99 each, also from Ooni). The former will hold 12 dough balls each and the latter are bamboo boards for preparing dough – but they also make handy lids for the dough boxes.
